Designing and delivering an engaging online course isn’t merely a matter of uploading documents or starting a video call. It requires mastering a nuanced blend of pedagogical, social, and technical competencies. That’s where Online Learning Toolkit (OLT) steps in, aiming to immerse online educators in a caring community, passionate about excelling at online education. Throughout this post, we’ll explore how the OLT supports higher ed instructors in fostering lively and enriching virtual classrooms.
Explore Our Offerings: More Than Just Tips and Tools
Online education is increasingly becoming a mainstream mode of teaching in the hyper-digital, pandemic-stricken era. However, successful online teaching requires a set of tailored offerings, designed to suit each institution’s unique needs and constraints. OLT dwells much beyond a list of helpful tips or toolkits, offering comprehensive and customized support.
Camp Operation Online Learning (COOL), one of our flagship programs, offers a six-week asynchronous camp experience. By participating in this program from June 14-July 23, you can garner immediate feedback from peers and get expert instruction that suits your schedule. Accompanied by an accountability structure, COOL aims to prompt you to accomplish more in less time.
Who Should Consider Joining OLT?
In the wake of the digital transformation catalyzed by the pandemic outbreak, online learning has been stressful, sparking scrutiny of educators’ competence. OLT aims to build your confidence as an online educator and enthuse you with a supportive community.
From novice online teachers to seasoned experts, and from faculty to administrators, everyone can benefit from the OLT’s offerings given their openness to learn and collaborate.
Empower Your Online Teaching Skills with OLT
The professionals working with OLT are trained to simplify online course design and to design accessible, engaging online learning experiences. They learn to support online learners using inclusive online teaching practices and create original instructional materials using affordable, reliable, and user-friendly tools.
“The passion and knowledge of the facilitators made the whole experience energizing. They made all the “campers” feel like we were colleagues and collaborators, not just students. Everything taught in theory was modeled in practice, and I believe both novice online instructors as well as seasoned veterans benefited from the content.”
What Can You Expect from Upcoming OLT Events?
OLT consistently hosts webinars, workshops, games, and more to foster a thriving community of online teachers. For instance, on April 22, 2021, we are organizing a free webinar titled “Games and Learning: Designing to Support Habits of Mind.” Led by Dr. A. Nicole Pfannenstiel, a digital rhetoric scholar who studies videogames and literacies, digital writing, blog communities, and the use of games (and play!) in the classroom, the session intends to offer superlative game design strategies for educators and curriculum designers.
For educators interested in Open Educational Resources (OER), we are hosting a sprint from May 17-20. This four-day event will be a collaborative journey of designing, developing, publishing, and reviewing OERs, focusing on creating an OER infographic, image, or video.
Why Not Join the OLT Community Today?
If you enjoy learning from the comfort of your couch and want to venture into the vibrant world of online education, consider joining the OLT community. Register for COOL, book a workshop, enroll in professional development courses, or merely start by scheduling a free consultation with the OLT.
